ELECTROADHESION: THE FUTURE OF ANASTOMOSIS REPAIRS
Anastomotic leaks occur in about 10% of GI procedures, leading to increased costs of $10K per procedure and amount to healthcare costs of $3.6B annually in the US. Leaks increase the mortality rate by over 200%.
The standard-of-care, sutures, cannot meet the critical need for alternative methods to treat anastomotic leaks.. No alternative solution exists on the market which competes with sutures or staples for the required mechanical integrity.
ANASTOTAPE: SUTURE-LESS TISSUE REPAIR
How it Works: Gelectric’s adhesive patch, AnastoTape, provides a strong, safe, permanent, yet reversible adhesion to intestinal tissue. AnastoTape is a biodegradable and biocompatible hydrogel patch shown to increase healing rate compared to standard of care of sutures.
It reduces post-operative scarring. It is applied by a simple application of a localized electric field. Adhesion is reversible by applying a localized reversible electric field.
